In a recent interview during the promotional rounds of Thaandel, Naga Chaitanya addressed his separation from Samantha, and revealed how the separation led to a lot of negativity affecting him over the years.
It’s not easy being a celebrity in today’s times, when every move is either scrutinised or squashed. In such times, when a celebrity goes through a setback, things get even worse.
Never-ending speculations are made, and their subsequent social media posts are flooded with overwhelming negativity, with many people taking sides or fuelling the rumours. When Naga Chaitanya and Samantha announced their mutual consent separation in 2021 after nearly four years of marriage, social media was divided.
Talking about the criticism he received on social media, Naga Chaitanya told Vamshi Kurapati on the Raw Talks with VK podcast, “When we announced our separation, we put up a post saying we have our own reasons, and we are moving on.
What more clarification is really needed? I hoped the audience and the media would respect our request for privacy. But it just became headlines, talking points, gossip, and basically entertainment.” Naga Chaitanya argued that if he says anything else, that too will become news.
“That video byte will generate more articles, more gossips, etc… Even now, years after we parted ways, there will be interviews where someone will try to demand answers from me. See, I have moved on gracefully, and so has Samantha. We respect each other a lot.
Whatever happened was for our good. I have reiterated this many times, and yet, the questions keep coming. So, how can I try to put a full stop to something that I have not even written.” Asking his critics to focus on better things, including his own life, Naga Chaitanya said, “Spread positivity instead.
See, I have come out of the marriage, gained strength, found love again and moved on. Also, whatever happened in my life is nothing that would not have happened in anyone else’s life. So, why am I treated like a criminal?”
Naga Chaitanya’s parents – actors Nagarjuna and Lakshmi Daggubati – separated when he was a child and later remarried. Stating that divorce and breakups are quite sensitive topics for him, the Laal Singh Chaddha actor said, “I come from a broken family.
I know that experience. Before breaking a relationship, I will think about it at least 1000 times because I really understand the repercussions. Breaking the marriage was a mutual decision, and we went our separate ways.
Of course, I feel bad that it happened, but everything happens for a reason. I believe it is up to you to build yourself up and keep moving forward. You will find the right path soon.” Naga Chaitanya, who married Samantha in 2018, announced his separation from the actor in October 2021.
He recently married actor Shobhita Dhulipala in 2024. On the acting front, Naga Chaitanya was seen in Thandel, released this Friday, directed by Chandoo Mondeti and starring his Love Story co-star Sai Pallavi in the other lead role.
