Neena Gupta reveals she was molested at a young age by her doctor and tailor

Neena Gupta opened up about being molested as a child and revealed why she didn’t tell her mother. In her autobiography Sach Kahun Toh, Neena recalled several memories from her childhood and her school days, both good and bad. In the book, she recounts facing multiple instances of sexual misconduct.

In her book, the actress has shared an anecdote of her visit to an optician. She further revealed that her brother was asked to sit in the waiting room while she was inside his cabin. She wrote, “The doctor started with examining my eye and then went down to check out other areas that were unconnected with my eye. I was scared stiff while it was happening and felt disgusted all the way home. I sat in a corner in the house and cried my eyes out when nobody was looking. But I didn’t dare tell my mother about this because I was so scared that she would say that it was my fault. That I had probably said or done something to provoke him.” She added, “This happened to me many times at the doctor’s.”

But the actress refused telling her mother about the incident, Neena Gupta said, “But I didn’t dare tell my mother about this because I was so scared that she would say that it was my fault. Narrating a similar experience during her visit to a tailor, Neena shared that he got “too handsy” while taking her measurements. She had to keep going back to him even after this incident because she felt like she had no choice, she explains. “If I told my mother that I didn’t want to go to them, she would ask me why and I would have to tell her,” Neena Gupta wrote.

The actress also revealed how she had rejected the advances of a friend’s brother at the age of 16. She stated, “I somehow managed to shrug off his advances politely without offending him or his family.”

On the work front, Neena Gupta was last seen with her daughter Masaba Gupta in Netflix’s Masaba Masaba. She’s now gearing up for the second season of the show Panchayat that came out last year. She’s also doing Sooraj Barjatya’s drama Uunchai with Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Anupam Kher, and Parineeti Chopra.
