Neeru Bajwa on ‘Son of Sardaar 2’: “Takes Culture of Punjab to Audiences Worldwide”

Celebrated Punjabi actress Neeru Bajwa is set to make a grand return to Bollywood with the upcoming film Son of Sardaar 2, co-starring Ajay Devgn. The sequel to the 2012 hit promises to be a vibrant celebration of Punjabi culture, with Bajwa describing it as a film that “takes the culture of Punjab to audiences worldwide”.

In a recent interview, Bajwa emphasized the film’s cultural significance, stating, “We really hope the audience’s hearts fill with as much joy when they see the film as much as we had working on it.” She added that the film is not just a comedy but a heartfelt tribute to Punjabi traditions, music, and spirit.

The film’s title track, shot at the historic Sheesh Mahal and Qila Mubarak in Patiala, marks the first Hindi song filmed at these restored heritage sites. Bajwa rehearsed for two days to perfect the choreography and reportedly infused the set with authentic Punjabi energy.

Her on-screen chemistry with Devgn has already caught the attention of fans. “It was a pleasure and joy to work with Ajay sir,” she said. “He is such a humble, down-to-earth person, and we got along very easily with our natural Punjabi connection”.

Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, Son of Sardaar 2 features an ensemble cast including Mrunal Thakur, Sanjay Dutt, Ravi Kishan, and the late Mukul Dev. The film is jointly produced by Ajay Devgn, Jyoti Deshpande, N R Pachisia, and Pravin Talreja, and is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on July 25, 2025.
