Netflix has officially announced the renewal of four popular Indian series—Black Warrant, Maamla Legal Hai, Mismatched, and The Royals—bringing excitement to fans eagerly awaiting new seasons.
The critically acclaimed prison drama Black Warrant, based on the book Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer by Sunil Gupta and Sunetra Choudhury, is set to return for a second season. Starring Zahan Kapoor, the show offers an unfiltered look into the Indian prison system, exploring themes of power, justice, and survival.
Director Vikramaditya Motwane expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response to Season 1, stating that Season 2 will delve deeper into the human stories and moral complexities of life inside Tihar Jail.
The legal comedy Maamla Legal Hai, starring Ravi Kishan, Naila Grewal, and Nidhi Bisht, is also making a comeback. The show follows the quirky legal battles at the Patparganj District Court, with VD Tyagi (Ravi Kishan) dreaming of becoming India’s Attorney General.
Season 2 promises more eccentric cases, courtroom humor, and fresh faces, including Dinesh Lal Yadav (Nirahua) and Kusha Kapila, adding to the chaos. The beloved romantic drama Mismatched, starring Prajakta Koli and Rohit Saraf, will return for its fourth and final season. The series, which first premiered in 2020, has followed the journey of Dimple and Rishi as they navigate young love, ambition, and personal growth. Producer Ronnie Screwvala confirmed that the final season will bring closure to their story, promising an emotional farewell filled with laughter, tears, and nostalgia.
Despite receiving mixed reviews, Netflix has renewed The Royals for a second season. Starring Bhumi Pednekar and Ishaan Khatter, the show explores modern-day Indian royalty, blending romance, ambition, and betrayal. Season 2 is expected to raise the stakes, with more intrigue, drama, and unexpected twists, as the characters navigate power struggles and personal dilemmas.
Netflix India’s Series Head, Tanya Bami, emphasised the platform’s dedication to bringing back shows that have found a home in people’s hearts. She highlighted the diverse storytelling across these renewals—from young love to prison drama to a royal rom-com and a legal sitcom—ensuring that each return feels like a homecoming for fans.
