‘No better way to start the week.’ Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu’s words inspire Anand Mahindra

India’s Harnaaz Sandhu was recently crowned with the ‘Miss Universe’ title for 2021. The 21-year-old beauty brought back the crown to India, 21 years later, after Lara Dutta won the pageant in 2000. The diva is currently making headlines with her pictures, happy moments but most importantly her inspiring speech which was one of the reasons which let her win the coveted crown on the world stage. Recently, industrialist Anand Mahindra acknowledged her speech.

A video of Sandhu during the final question-and-answer round has gone viral on social media. Her awe-inspiring answer to a question where she was asked what advice she would give to young women on how to deal with the pressure they face today has prompted many to share the video on Twitter and other social media.

Mahindra, however, was not the only one to congratulate Sandhu. Ambassador of Israel to India Naor Gilon, Israeli embassy in India, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala, Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh and the entertainment magazine Filmfare also congratulated Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu for winning the Miss Universe pageant.

“Mazal Tov, badhaai ho, Congratulations Harnaaz Kaur for winning the Miss Universe. Having competition in Israel evidently brought luck to India,” Ambassador of Israel to India Naor Gilon tweeted.

Host Steve Harvey asked the 21-year-old Sandhu what advice she would give to young women watching on how to deal with the pressures they face today. Sandhu eloquently answered the question triggering a thunderous response at the event.

“Well, I think the biggest pressure the youth of today is facing is to believe in themselves. To know that you are unique and that’s what makes you beautiful, stop comparing yourselves with others, and let’s talk about more important things that’s happening worldwide. I think this is what you need to understand. Come out, speak for yourself, because you are the leader of your life. You are the voice of your own life. I believe in myself and that’s why I’m standing here today. Thank you,” said Sandhu.

Harvey was later criticised for asking Sandhu to do animal impersonations on the stage instead of focusing on her accomplishments. Harvey while speaking to her said, “I hear you do some pretty good animal impersonations. Let’s hear your best one.” Startled at the request, Sandhu replied, saying, “Oh my god, Steve, I was not expecting to do this on the world stage.” However, the Miss Universe 2021 managed a few meows before winning the crown.
