Global icon Priyanka Chopra has officially joined the cast of SS Rajamouli’s highly anticipated pan-India action-adventure film, tentatively titled Globetrotter, currently filming in Nairobi, Kenya. The actress took to social media to share scenic glimpses from her time in East Africa, confirming her participation in what is being hailed as one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema history.
The film, also referred to as SSMB29, stars Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu in the lead role and is being produced by KL Narayana. With an estimated budget of ₹1,000 crore, Globetrotter is set to be a global spectacle, blending high-octane action with immersive storytelling across exotic international locations.
Originally scheduled to begin its Kenya shoot in July, the production was delayed due to political unrest in the region. With stability now restored, filming is set to commence in mid-September, spanning locations across Nairobi and Tanzania.
Chopra’s arrival marks the beginning of the film’s African chapter, which promises breathtaking visuals and a narrative inspired by classic adventure tales. According to reports, the story follows a rugged explorer on a perilous quest to save the world from a formidable enemy, drawing thematic parallels to the Indiana Jones franchise.
On Mahesh Babu’s birthday earlier this month, Rajamouli unveiled the film’s first poster and announced that the official first look will be revealed in November 2025. In a statement, the filmmaker emphasized the scale of the project, noting that “mere pictures or press conferences cannot do it justice” and promising a “never-before-seen” reveal.
Music for the film will be composed by MM Keeravani, further elevating expectations for its global release, which is slated for 2027.
With Priyanka Chopra now on location and the African schedule set to begin, Globetrotter continues to build momentum as one of the most awaited cinematic ventures of the decade.
