Rahul Bhat Embarks on Bold New Role in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘The Wives’

Actor Rahul Bhat has officially joined the cast of acclaimed filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming drama The Wives, stepping into a bold new avatar that promises to be one of his most dynamic performances to date.

The film, which began shooting in Mumbai on July 8, marks Bhandarkar’s 16th directorial venture and continues his tradition of exploring the hidden layers of society through cinema. In The Wives, Bhat portrays a high-profile Bollywood personality whose enigmatic presence adds intensity and unpredictability to the narrative. Known for his emotionally charged roles, Bhat’s character is expected to bring depth and complexity to the film’s storyline.

Bhat shared a glimpse of his first day on set via Instagram, captioning the post “light. camera. drama. The Wives is officially on,” sparking excitement among fans. The actor, who began 2025 with critical acclaim for Black Warrant, also recently announced his Hollywood debut in Lost and Found in Kumbh, unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival.

Director Madhur Bhandarkar expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “With The Wives, I want to peel back yet another glamorous layer of society and show what really lies beneath. This film will be a bold, unapologetic look at the secrets, struggles, and resilience of women who are often seen but seldom heard”.

The ensemble cast includes Sonali Kulkarni, Mouni Roy, Regina Cassandra, Saurabh Sachdeva, Arjan Bajwa, and Freddy Daruwala. Produced by Bhandarkar Entertainment and P J Motion Pictures, the film marks Bhandarkar’s second collaboration with producer Pranav Jain following their work on India Lockdown.

The release date for The Wives is yet to be announced, but the film is already generating buzz for its bold themes and powerful performances. As production continues, audiences eagerly await further updates on this compelling exploration of glamour, secrecy, and resilience.
