Raj B Shetty: ‘Some films are made to forget life…’

Actor-filmmaker Raj B Shetty is all set to make his Malayalam debut with the upcoming film Turbo, where he will be seen sharing screen space with superstar Mammootty. In a recent interview, Shetty talked about his experience working on the project and how to look at the success of every film from a different perspective.
The actor, who is mostly known for content-driven Kannada films like Ondu Motteya Kaathe and Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana, plays an over-the-top villain in Turbo, who comes across as a commercial potboiler.
When asked about this, Raj B Shetty said that, “Some films are made to touch life”. “Some films are made to forget life”. The success of Kaithal is different from the success of Turbo and the achievement of Kannur Squad and Brahmayugam is diverse.
In another interview with a YouTube channel, Shetty explained how collaboration between film industries prevents unhealthy competition. “The engagement between industries is a positive step. This reduces unhealthy competition,” he said. The actor said that in the past it was hardly possible to see a Kannada actor in Malayalam cinema and described the change as a positive step.
Raj B Shetty also claimed that he does not want to stick as an actor who will only do unconventional films. While Shetty’s passion lies in directing, he sees acting as a valuable learning opportunity and a means of broadening his filmmaking skills.
As Turbo gets ready for release, Mammootty fans are excited to see if the veteran superstar, who is on a winning streak, will continue his lucky streak. Directed by Vysakh, Turbo also stars Sunil, Anjana Jayaprakash and Bindu Pansikar in pivotal roles.
