July 3, 2025 — The much-anticipated cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic Ramayana took a significant step forward today with the release of its first official glimpse. Titled Ramayana: The Introduction, the teaser showcases Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Yash as the formidable Ravana, setting the stage for what is being hailed as one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana Part 1 is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with the Oscar-winning VFX studio DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The film is being shot in IMAX format and is scheduled for a global theatrical release during Diwali 2026, with Part 2 slated for Diwali 2027.

The action sequences are choreographed by Hollywood veterans Terry Notary (Avengers, Planet of the Apes) and Guy Norris (Mad Max: Fury Road), while production design is helmed by Ravi Bansal and Ramsey Avery, known for their work on Dune: Part Two and Captain America, respectively.
