Rana Daggubati says he is like the Terminator because he had his ‘eye, kidney and many other things’ transplanted.
Actor Rana Daggubati, whose series Rana Naidu season 2 premiered today, recently spoke about undergoing a corneal transplant and the difficulties he has faced during action scenes since the procedure.
Addressing the challenges of filming with a transplanted cornea, Rana told Bollywood Bubble, “I mean, my eye has become a joke in the last few years, because I can’t see from one side. And during action scenes, if I don’t put my lenses on, it becomes very funny, there’s a lot of dust, and it gets very dirty. But yes, I have gone through all of that now. I even joke with people that I’m almost like the Terminator, I have one eye, one kidney and a lot of other things transplanted. So, if you’ve seen Terminator, then yes, I’m almost there, guys!”
Rana Daggubati has partial blindness in his right eye and has undergone a corneal transplant. The actor has previously discussed the physical and psychological effects of the condition, including the emotional challenges that persist after surgery. He also revealed that his left eye is a transplant received from a donor.
It was in 2016 when Rana first opened up about his blindness in his right eye. After listening to an emotional story from a young boy on Telugu chat show Memu Saitham, Rana told him: “Shall I tell you one thing? I am blind in my right eye. I can see only with my left eye. What you are seeing is someone else’s eye, which was donated to me after his death. If I close my left eye, I cannot see anyone. L.V. Prasad operated on me when I was young. Study hard, we will support you.
Be brave, because you have to take care of your family. Sorrows will go away one day, but you have to gear up and keep your family happy always.” Rana will next be seen in the film Rakshasa Raja, which is said to be a period action drama set in the 1930s during the British colonial era. Offering a big thrill, the upcoming film will depict the story of a fictitious village, with the influence of Portuguese and French cultures being incorporated into the story.
