Rani Mukerji is set to return as the fearless cop Shivani Shivaji Roy in Mardaani 3, which will hit theaters on February 27, 2026, just before Holi. Directed by Abhiraj Minawala, the third installment of the Mardaani franchise promises an intense battle between justice and sinister forces. The film’s release date aligns with Holi, a festival symbolizing the triumph of good over evil, reinforcing the movie’s theme.
Mardaani 3 is produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF), marking the return of Mukerji’s iconic character, who has won hearts in the previous two films. The screenplay is written by Aayush Gupta, known for his work on The Railway Men.
The first look of the film features Mukerji holding a gun with a determined expression, hinting at the intense action and drama awaiting audiences.
The Mardaani franchise began in 2014, with Mukerji portraying a tough cop tackling human trafficking. The sequel, Mardaani 2, released in 2019, focused on sexual assault cases.
With Mardaani 3, the stakes are higher, and Mukerji has described the film as “dark, deadly, and brutal”, promising an edge-of-the-seat thriller.
