Saiee Manjrekar recently opened up about her debut with Salman Khan in Dabangg 3, in which she played the role of Rajjo opposite the superstar. However, the film faced criticism mainly due to the significant age difference between the two – Saiee was 17 when they were paired on screen while Salman was 54. In a recent interaction, Saiee explained why the criticism did not affect her and described herself as “thick-skinned”.
In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Saiee revealed that for six months after the film’s release, she wasn’t very active on social media, which kept her away from the conversation. “I was oblivious to that buzz because that was the time when I had just started out, and I had no management, no PR, so I was unaware of all this. I was happy to see myself on the big screen. But six months after the film’s release, when I became more active on Instagram, I saw everything that had happened, but since it happened six months ago, it didn’t affect me as much as it could have. I was at a different stage of my life and career at that time,” she shared.
She further added, “I am a very thick-skinned person; things don’t affect me easily. I have been like this since childhood. Even today, if someone compliments me, I get happy and if someone says something negative, I pay attention to it, but it doesn’t bother me much. I just keep moving forward.”
Dabangg 3 received mixed reviews from critics and performed average at the box office, making it the lowest-grossing film in the franchise. The film was directed by Prabhu Deva.
