Samay Raina says ‘parents are failing’ if young kids are watching his content: ‘If 8-year-olds are watching me then parents should be responsible’

In a new podcast recorded in January, Samay Raina can be heard saying that his parents never let him watch TV when he was young. Samay Raina faced severe criticism when an episode of his YouTube show India’s Got Latent went viral for the wrong reasons.

The controversy led to Samay Raina removing all the episodes of his show from his YouTube channel. He also assured that he will cooperate with the authorities regarding the investigation.

Now, it seems like Samay has put the past behind him as he has announced new shows internationally. Now, in a new podcast recorded in January this year, Samay can be heard saying that people are failing as parents if their young kids are watching his show.

Samay asked Food Farmer aka Revant Himatsingka, “Do you think it’s responsible for a person like me to not drink Coke and be myself? I drink Coke at home, do you think I should show it off in public places and promote drinking water instead?” When the podcaster said, “Yes, I think it will impact 8-10 year olds”, Samay was quick to reply, “If an eight-ten year old is watching me, his parents have failed.”

He explained, “When I was that age, my father used to beat me for watching TV. I didn’t watch TV then. I was never affected by all this and I really think he did a great job as a father. So the parents are responsible, not me. I have to be myself. If I want to influence people to do something, just be honest.”

Opening up about himself, Samay said, “There are so many fake people in this world. When people see someone who is so perfect, who does the right things and says the right things, they get depressed, it attacks your confidence and you start questioning yourself, ‘Is there something wrong with me?’

Then comes someone like me, who stays alone, drinks coke, says the wrong things. They say, ‘You know what? It’s okay to be the way I am, because that’s what I associate myself with.” Samay Raina came into the news when some unpleasant comments from an episode of his YouTube show surfaced online.

In a video, famous podcaster Ranveer Allahabadia can be heard asking a contestant, “Would you prefer to watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or do it once to stop it forever?” This led to so much backlash that several FIRs were filed against the panelists of the show.
