Sameera Reddy had a successful but short-lived career as a Hindi film actress in the 2000s, but today, she is widely known for her antics on social media with her mother-in-law Manjari Varde, whom she has fondly nicknamed Sassy Sasu. In a recent interview, Sameera revealed how her mother-in-law used to accompany her and her husband (then boyfriend) on their movie dates, and had no problem at all if Sameera decided to spend the night at her house.
Speaking on Lxme’s YouTube channel, Sameera revealed, “Akshay used to take them on our dates, and that was something I couldn’t do… He would be like ‘You know, my mom is single, she’s divorced’ so on weekends… for the first six months of my life, I would take mom to a movie. He would be like ‘No, I have to take my mom to a movie.’ I was like ‘What are we doing?’
Sameera also recalled that her mother-in-law would tell her stories about Akshay’s exes, but she also made sure that she would always support Sameera. “So the funny thing is that right from the beginning, it was very bizarre, it was very easy,” she recalled laughing.
Sameera then shared that her mother-in-law had always been a woman who was very modern in her outlook but also very traditional at the same time. “She didn’t mind if I spent the night there. I was 32, Akshay I was 30 years old and she would say, ‘You guys are 30, I am not stupid’. And the most interesting thing was that they were very traditional and then they were very open-minded, and that combination was a bit confusing for me as well. There was no pretense,” she said.
Sameera married entrepreneur Akshay in 2014. They are parents to a son and a daughter.
