Sandeep Reddy Vanga Shares Key Updates on Prabhas-Starrer ‘Spirit’; Promises Tighter Runtime and Fresh Narrative Approach

HYDERABAD, Sept 8 — Acclaimed director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has revealed new details about his upcoming pan-India action drama Spirit, starring superstar Prabhas in the lead role. In a recent appearance on Jagapathi Babu’s talk show Jayammu Nischayammu Raa, Vanga discussed his filmmaking process, the film’s progress, and his experience working with Prabhas, offering fans a glimpse into what promises to be one of the most anticipated releases of 2026.

Vanga confirmed that Spirit will be a high-octane cop drama, with Prabhas portraying a relentless police officer who takes on a powerful underworld syndicate. Triptii Dimri is reportedly cast opposite him, marking a fresh pairing that has already generated buzz among fans.

Addressing concerns over runtime—especially after his last release Animal ran over 3 hours and 20 minutes—Vanga assured viewers that Spirit will be more tightly edited. “I’ll make sure the runtime doesn’t exceed three hours,” he said, adding that the film will retain his signature intensity while being more concise.

In a notable shift from conventional production methods, Vanga revealed that 70% of the film’s background score has already been completed, even before shooting begins. He explained that having the music ready in advance helps streamline the shoot. “It’s easier to shoot a film when the BGM is already playing on set. You know exactly when to say ‘cut’,” he said, citing lessons learned during Kabir Singh and Animal.

Vanga also praised Prabhas for his humility and professionalism. “Prabhas is very transparent and sweet to work with. Though he’s a big star, he doesn’t flaunt it,” he remarked, adding that the actor has committed bulk dates to ensure uninterrupted filming.

Production for Spirit is expected to begin soon, with filming scheduled across multiple locations in India and abroad. The film marks Prabhas’s 25th outing and is being produced by Bhushan Kumar under the T-Series banner. It is slated for a 2026 release, following Prabhas’s horror-comedy The Raja Saab, which may be postponed to Sankranti next year.

With Spirit, Vanga aims to deliver a gripping narrative that blends emotional depth with stylized action, while showcasing Prabhas in a bold new avatar. The film is expected to set a new benchmark in Telugu cinema and further expand Prabhas’s pan-India appeal.
