In an exclusive interview with Screen, actor Rahul Dev opens up about his classmate, superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
Before becoming a superstar, Shah Rukh Khan was a typical Delhi boy who studied at St Columba’s School in the capital. He was a senior to actor Rahul Dev, who in an exclusive interview with Screen opened up about his memories with Shah Rukh and his teenage years.
“We would meet sometimes for cricket practice or during St Columba’s matches,” the actor recalled.
When asked how Shah Rukh Khan was in school, Rahul Dev revealed that the actor was brilliant at everything. “He was always a star. I mean. He was brilliant in studies. He was in every school sports team – football, cricket and hockey.
He was also brilliant in gymnastics and was a great sprinter. All I can say is, blessed,” he said. “To be honest, our school has produced some of the best talents. Becoming a top leader in the film industry was not the only thing.
Many of my classmates are in high positions in their fields of life,” Rahul said. Shah Rukh Khan was not just known for sports and studies – he was also a prominent member of the school’s dramatics team.
“Whenever there was a play or school function, he would play the lead role in every skit. He might have always been an actor. But honestly, he could have been anyone – scientist, athlete, anyone, he was good at everything.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Rahul Dev was last seen in the Tamil film Good Bad Ugly alongside Ajith Kumar. On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan is currently shooting for Siddharth Anand’s King, which will also mark his daughter Suhana Khan’s theatrical debut. The film will release in theatres in 2026.
‘Shah Rukh Khan was always a star,’ said his classmate Rahul Dev: ‘He was part of every sports team, drama club…’
