Siddharth Anand Applauds Mohit Suri’s ‘Saiyaara’, Urges Sequel to Romantic Blockbuster

Mumbai, July 29, 2025 — Acclaimed filmmaker Siddharth Anand has publicly lauded Mohit Suri’s latest romantic drama Saiyaara, calling it the director’s finest work to date and urging the production house to greenlight a sequel. The praise came via a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), where Anand expressed his admiration for the film’s storytelling, performances, and emotional depth.

Anand, known for directing high-octane blockbusters like Pathaan and War, described Saiyaara as “Mohit’s craft at its peak” and “his conviction unhinged.” He commended Suri for delivering a cinematic experience that deeply resonated with audiences, stating, “I wanted to step outside the theatre and give you a big hug.”

The film, which marks the debut of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, follows the poignant journey of Krish Kapoor, an aspiring singer, and Vaani Batra, a lyricist diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s. Anand praised the lead pair for their compelling performances, saying they made the characters “tangible” and that he “fell in love with their love.”

“No one moved an inch till the screen went black,” Anand noted, highlighting the film’s emotional grip on viewers. He also acknowledged the backing of Yash Raj Films and its leadership—Aditya Chopra, Akshaye Widhani, and Sumanna Sinha—for supporting the project with “utmost conviction.”

Concluding his post, Anand made a passionate appeal: “Who said love stories are passé? Thank you for bringing tears and joy back to cinemas. Come on, bring Saiyaara 2!”

The film has garnered widespread acclaim from both audiences and industry veterans, with several Bollywood celebrities echoing Anand’s sentiments. As Saiyaara continues its successful theatrical run, speculation around a potential sequel is gaining momentum.
