Smriti Irani, the actress-turned-politician, has begun shooting for the much-anticipated second season of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. The show, originally aired from 2000 to 2008, was one of India’s most iconic television dramas, and Irani’s portrayal of Tulsi Virani made her a household name.
The production of the new season is happening under tight security measures, including Z+ security for Irani, which is the highest level of protection in India. Additionally, mobile phones on set are reportedly being taped to prevent leaks, and only a select few, including Irani, co-star Amar Upadhyay, and producer Ekta Kapoor, are exempt from the phone restrictions.
Ekta Kapoor has ambitious plans for the reboot, aiming to complete the 2,000-episode milestone that the original series fell short of by 150 episodes. An official announcement regarding the show is expected in June 2025.
