Sonakshi Sinha Makes a Powerful Tollywood Debut in ‘Jatadhara’

Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha has made a striking entry into Telugu cinema with her debut in the upcoming supernatural thriller Jatadhara. Directed by Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal, the film features Sonakshi in a bold and intense role as Dhanapisachini, a vengeful spirit rooted in ancient folklore.

The trailer, launched in Hyderabad by superstar Mahesh Babu, showcases a chilling blend of myth, horror, and dark rituals. Sonakshi’s fierce portrayal of Dhanapisachini has drawn praise for its commanding screen presence and emotional depth. Her character is central to the film’s narrative, which revolves around a forbidden ritual known as Pisacha Bandhanam—a dark act that binds malevolent forces.

Speaking about her role, Sonakshi said, “I’ve been waiting for a long time to do a character like this. It’s completely different from anything I’ve done before, and that’s what made it so exciting for me. I want to thank the makers for envisioning me in such a role and bringing it to life.” She also reflected on her father’s advice, adding, “Ever since my debut, people have told me I have an Indian face—some even called me Bihar ki beti. But my father always said, you’re Hindustan ki beti.”

Jatadhara also stars Sudheer Babu, who plays a skeptic drawn into a battle between light and darkness. The film’s climax was reportedly shot over an intense 24-hour stretch across three days, underscoring the commitment of the cast and crew.

Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and presented by Sukumar, Jatadhara is slated for release on November 7, 2025, and is expected to be one of the most anticipated horror dramas in Tollywood this year.
