Sonu Nigam Breaks Silence on Kannada Concert Controversy: ‘I Won’t Take Humiliation at 51’

Singer Sonu Nigam has responded to the backlash following his Bengaluru concert fiasco, where he was criticized for allegedly refusing to sing Kannada songs. In a heartfelt statement, Nigam defended his deep respect for Kannada culture, but expressed disappointment at being humiliated publicly.

Nigam stated that he was threatened by someone as young as his son during the concert and emphasized that he is not a young lad to take humiliation. The controversy escalated after an FIR was filed against him, and the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce announced a ban on his participation in Kannada film projects.

During a concert in Bengaluru, a group of attendees demanded that Sonu Nigam sing in Kannada. The singer initially assured them that Kannada songs were part of his setlist, but the group continued to heckle and threaten him.

Nigam later performed Kannada songs for over an hour, but the controversy escalated after a video of the incident went viral.

Taking to Instagram, Nigam defended his deep respect for Kannada culture but expressed disappointment at being humiliated publicly. He stated that he was threatened by someone as young as his son and emphasized that he is not a young lad to take humiliation.

Nigam also compared the aggressive tone of the hecklers to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, which led to further backlash.
