Sony LIV’s ‘13th: Some Lessons Aren’t Taught in Classrooms’ Explores Ambition, Mentorship, and Ed-Tech Dreams

Mumbai, September 19, 2025 — Sony LIV has unveiled the trailer for its upcoming original series 13th: Some Lessons Aren’t Taught in Classrooms, a heartfelt drama inspired by the life and philosophy of Mohit Tyagi, a visionary mathematics teacher and founder of the education startup Competishun. The series is set to premiere on October 1, 2025, exclusively on the platform.

Produced under the banner About Films, the show is helmed by producer and showrunner Abhishek Dhandharia, with direction by Nishil Sheth and writing by Sameer Mishra. The narrative centers on Ritesh, portrayed by Paresh Pahuja, a successful venture capitalist who steps away from the corporate world to repay a debt of gratitude to his mentor, MT Sir, played by Gagan Dev Riar.

The story traces Ritesh’s journey from boardroom triumphs to a deeper calling—helping his former teacher build a bold new ed-tech venture. The series delves into themes of ambition, mentorship, and the transformative power of belief, highlighting how true success often lies not in individual achievement but in shared purpose and legacy.

Actor Paresh Pahuja described the show as “a simple and honest portrayal of the influence and impact some mentors have on our lives,” adding that the character of Ritesh reflects the emotional depth and gratitude many feel toward their teachers.

The ensemble cast includes Girija Oak Godbole, Pradnya Motghare, Abhishek Ranjan, Keshav Mehta, Jai Kishan, Ashish Raghav, Ajay Chakraborty, and Rajendra Bhatia, contributing to a rich and emotionally resonant portrayal of relationships and aspirations.

With its compelling storyline and strong performances, 13th: Some Lessons Aren’t Taught in Classrooms is positioned as a standout addition to Sony LIV’s 2025 entertainment slate, offering viewers a poignant reminder of the mentors who shape destinies beyond the classroom.
