Sunil Lahiri says he is disappointed with the people of Ayodhya for ‘betraying their king’: ‘Those who messaged Sita Mata…’

Sunil Lahiri, popular for his role of Lakshman in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana, recently expressed disappointment at the citizens of Ayodhya for not voting for the BJP, the party under whose leadership the Ram temple was inaugurated in Ayodhya in January. On June 4, the much-awaited results of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 were declared and BJP’s Lallu Singh lost the election in the Faizabad constituency of Uttar Pradesh, where the temple is located. This seat was won by Samajwadi Party candidate Awadhesh Prasad.
On Wednesday, Sunil took to his social media handle to express his disappointment and shared several posts on his Instagram. One of his posts read, “We are forgetting that these are the same Ayodhya residents who doubted Goddess Sita after her return from exile. What do you call a person who rejects even God? Selfish. History is proof that the citizens of Ayodhya always betrayed their king. Shame on them.”
Another post read, “Dear citizens of Ayodhya, we salute your greatness, you are the same people who did not even spare Goddess Sita. We are not surprised that you betrayed the person who ensured that Lord Ram came out of that small tent and was installed in a beautiful temple. The entire country will never look upon you with respect again.”
In another post he compared the people of Ayodhya to Baahubali’s character Kattappa. In the film, Kattappa had killed his king Amarendra Baahubali.
Sunil Lahiri’s co-star Arun Govil, who played the role of Ram in the popular television series, secured a seat in Meerut. He congratulated Arun on his victory.
