Actor Suriya was in Chennai on Friday to attend the trailer release for his next movie, Retro. The film, which Kartik Subbaraj directed, stars him alongside Pooja Hegde. Everyone in attendance was delighted when Suriya referred to his wife Jyotika as his “kannadi poo” at the event. One of the songs by Retro is called Kannadi Poove (glass blossom). Suriya mentioned the song when discussing the May 1 release of the movie, saying, “Enjoy the many layers of the film, which include love, laughter, and war.” You are all loved by me. Because of all of you, I am here today. Because of your love, I am here. Naturally, I also give thanks to my Kannada poo Jo. My trip wouldn’t be as enjoyable without her.
Suriya’s character in Retro’s recently released teaser exhibits a variety of emotions. He promises to give up his violent ways after falling in love with Pooja’s character. It’s easier said than done, though, because he appears to have a lot of adversaries, including a villain portrayed by Joju George. Even in prison, he goes on a rampage, drinks, and hits guys and walls with equal ferocity. The trailer also features Jayaram, Prakash Raj, and Nasser, among others.
