Hyderabad, September 15 — Actor Teja Sajja’s latest fantasy action film Mirai has delivered an impressive performance at the Indian box office, collecting ₹44.5 crore over its first three days of release. Directed by Karthik Gattamneni, the pan-Indian film opened in multiple languages including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
Released on September 12, Mirai earned ₹13 crore on Friday, followed by ₹15 crore on Saturday, and peaked at ₹16.5 crore on Sunday, marking a successful opening weekend. The Telugu version contributed the lion’s share of the earnings, with strong occupancy rates across theatres, while the Hindi dubbed version saw steady growth, aided by distribution support from Dharma Productions.
Set in a mythological-futuristic universe, Mirai follows Vedha Prajapati (played by Teja Sajja), a warrior tasked with protecting nine sacred scriptures left behind by Emperor Ashoka. These texts possess divine powers and are targeted by a dark faction led by Mahabir Lama (Manchu Manoj). The film blends high-octane action with visual grandeur, earning praise for its VFX and technical finesse from industry veterans including Ram Gopal Varma.
The film’s success has also sparked comparisons with Sajja’s previous hit HanuMan, with Mirai reportedly outperforming it in its initial three-day run. Overseas, Mirai has collected $1.3 million in the U.S. market, further boosting its global footprint.
With no major competition during its opening weekend and positive word-of-mouth, Mirai is expected to maintain momentum in the coming days. However, its performance on Monday and the arrival of new releases later in the week will be key to determining its long-term box office trajectory.
