The names of his grandfather, writer Salim Khan, and uncles, actors Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, and Arbaaz Khan, are among the family members of Ayaan Agnihotri, also known as Agni. Alizeh Agnihotri, his sister, also ventured into acting in 2023. Ayaan, on the other hand, decided to pursue a career in music. In addition to working on his own EP, he recently released the single Universal Laws.
“It feels good to know that maybe I can contribute something that’s different, something that people wouldn’t expect, to the family,” he adds when you mention his ancestry. Arhaan Khan, Ayaan’s cousin, and his pals were recently lectured by his uncle Salman on their podcast about their lack of fluency in Hindi and the importance of speaking the language while speaking to an Indian audience. Has it affected him as well? “I agree with it, but from my vantage point, this is the more difficult and significant battle.”
The performer continues, “It’s not that I don’t have the ability to move into doing Hindi music; it’s just that it’s not tough for me. My collaborations include a song in Hindi with Sajid-Wajid and another with artist Himesh Reshammiya. At my level, though, I’m attempting to postpone them as much as I can because I simply want a chance to perform the music I’ve spent so much time and energy producing. Later on, I’m thrilled to perform Hindi music as well. However, if I start with Hindi and am accepted there, I don’t know if I will ever be accepted in English, so I wanted a fair chance to try to establish myself there as well.
