Rima Das, the director of the National Award-winning film Village Rockstars is once again a popular name in the festival circuit. The director’s fourth Assamese feature, Tora’s Husband premiered at the 47th Toronto International Film Festival. It’s not just Das’ third feature to premiere at TIFF in a row but the first Indian film to be selected in the Platform section.
Tora’s Husband was also screened at the 27th Busan International Film Festival this October. The film featuring Abhijit Das and Tarali Kalita Das is the story of a loving father who struggles to keep his small business afloat during the lockdown. Shot during the lockdown, the film offers an honest depiction of how the pandemic affected small town life.
