Unni Mukundan shared that he was friends with Vipin Kumar for a long time but he was just a PRO who used to help promote his films.
Hours after Unni Mukundan’s former manager Vipin Kumar accused him of physical harassment, the Malayalam actor has reacted to his claims and called them baseless. In his complaint against Unni, Vipin shared that the actor physically harassed him in the premises of his apartment complex and used abusive language. Vipin also claimed that the Marco actor is frustrated due to lack of good projects.
Now, in an interview with Manorama Online, Unni Mukundan said, “Vipin has done such acts with the intention of tarnishing my reputation.” He shared that it was impossible for him to express the shock and pain that someone so close turned against him.
Unni said, “When Meppadiyan director Vishnu Mohan asked Vipin about the matter, he admitted his mistake and apologised. Later, Vishnu himself called me and suggested that I meet Vipin directly to resolve the issue. That is why I went to the flat in Kochi.”
The actor further revealed that he met Vipin in the parking lot of his apartment. He was accompanied by Vishnu Unnithan.
“Vipin came out wearing dark glasses. I asked him why he was speaking ill about me to others. He did not give any clear answer and seemed nervous and agitated.”
Unni Mukundan admitted that he had broken Vipin Kumar’s glasses, as he was refusing to look into his eyes and talk. “Yes, I took off his glasses and broke them – that’s true. But I didn’t do anything that could be called physical assault.”
The actor pointed out that all these incidents happened in a CCTV-monitored area.
Unni Mukundan also reacted to Vipin Kumar’s claims of his ill feelings against Tovino Thomas. Calling it a propaganda to harm both himself and Tovino, Unni said, “I personally called Tovino and explained everything – he understood the situation.
We have been friends since we entered the industry and we share a strong bond. Tovino was the one who celebrated Marco’s success with me. No false rumours can destroy that friendship.” Unni then listed all the times when Vipin created trouble for himself.
“One of the major criticisms against him was that he tried to take all the credit for the work. That time I personally got involved to resolve the matter.” Unni expressed disappointment over his father’s behaviour despite helping him financially when he needed treatment for his heart.
Concluding his statement, Unni revealed that he does not have a personal manager. Vipin was just a PRO who handled the publicity for his film, just like he does for other actors. He also revealed that he has only had a make-up person for the past decade.
“No staff member has ever complained against me. I am someone who only dreams about cinema and tries to be honest to it.” Earlier, in a video shared by Asianet News, Vipin Kumar was heard telling the media, “I have filed a complaint.
I had been working with him for six years. I stayed in that job despite being teased and facing such behaviour from him. He has been frustrated in recent times due to various reasons, including the lack of good projects since Marco and the failure of his most recent film Get-Set Baby at the box office. Also, although Sri Gokulam Movies had initially agreed to produce Unni’s directorial debut, they later backed out.
All of this has contributed to his growing frustration. He often takes out his frustration on people around him, which is why many people who once worked with him are no longer associated with Unni. How long can I tolerate all this?”
