South Korean e-commerce company Coupang has officially canceled Kanye West’s scheduled concert in Incheon following widespread backlash over his latest song, Heil Hitler. The decision was announced on Monday, with ticket vendor Interpark confirming that all purchased tickets would be fully refunded.
The controversy stems from West’s recent release of Heil Hitler, a track that has drawn severe criticism for its apparent glorification of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. The song, which was removed from streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, has sparked outrage among human rights organizations and the global music community.
Coupang, which was organizing the concert through its streaming service Coupang Play, also suspended the sale of merchandise from West’s Yeezy fashion line. The company cited “recent controversies involving the artist” as the reason for the cancellation but did not elaborate further.
West, who now goes by the name Ye, has faced repeated criticism for his inflammatory remarks and actions. His previous antisemitic statements led to the termination of his partnership with Adidas in 2022, and his latest song has only intensified concerns about his public influence.
The cancellation of the concert marks another setback for the rapper, whose recent actions have led to widespread condemnation. While some fans expressed disappointment over the decision, many have supported Coupang’s move, emphasizing the importance of rejecting hate speech in public platforms.
