Mumbai, Sept 29 — Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has gone viral for his composed handling of a public confrontation involving his driver, who was accused of rash driving and verbal abuse. The incident, captured on video and widely circulated on social media platforms including Reddit, has sparked discussions about celebrity conduct and accountability.
The footage shows a visibly upset man confronting Dhawan, alleging that the actor’s driver had driven recklessly and hurled abuses following a minor accident. “Inhone mere upar gaadi chadhaya, aur ulta sidha gaali de raha hai,” the man is heard saying. Dhawan, rather than reacting defensively, is seen calmly responding with “Thik hai, thik hai,” in an effort to pacify the situation. A police official was present at the scene, and after a brief exchange, Dhawan quietly entered his vehicle and departed.
The actor’s composed demeanor has drawn widespread appreciation online. Social media users praised his restraint and maturity, with comments such as “Bhai ne sahi handle kiya. Hanji hanji karke bina koi drama hue nikal gaya,” and “Varun has the street smarts to deal with such situations in real life; he’s level-headed, not too emotional or aggressive”.
The incident occurred amid promotional activities for Dhawan’s upcoming romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, directed by Shashank Khaitan. The film, co-starring Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf, is set to release on October 2, 2025, and will face box office competition from Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1. Speaking about the clash, Dhawan remarked, “Obviously, Kantara is a very big film. The first one was amazing. I loved it myself. But our film is very different. I think there’s more than enough space for all kinds of films”.
Despite the controversy, Dhawan’s response has been widely viewed as a model of public poise, reinforcing his reputation as a grounded and respectful public figure.
