Malayalam actress Vincy Aloshious has filed a formal complaint against actor Shine Tom Chacko, alleging drug use and misconduct on the set of the film Soothravakyam.
Vincy initially spoke about the incident during an anti-drug awareness event, where she stated that she would refuse to work with actors who consume drugs. Later, she shared a video on social media, detailing how Shine Tom Chacko allegedly misbehaved with her and exhaled a white, powdery substance during rehearsals. Following public outcry, major film industry organizations, including AMMA, FEFKA, and the Film Chamber, urged her to file a formal complaint.
The Excise Department is expected to question Vincy regarding her allegations, as Shine Tom Chacko has previously been linked to a hybrid drug case in Alappuzha. Meanwhile, the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) has extended its support and demanded an investigation into whether an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) was present on set.
The Film Chamber has confirmed receiving the complaint and has scheduled a meeting on April 21 to address the matter. Shine Tom Chacko was reportedly seen fleeing from his hotel room in Kochi following a drug raid on Wednesday night.
This controversy has sparked heated discussions in the Malayalam film industry, with many actors and organisations rallying behind Vincy.
