Manish Paul is currently gearing up for the launch of his upcoming film Jugjug Jio. In a historic conversation, Manish opened up about the struggles he faced in his early years. Recalling the time when he didn’t have the cash to pay the rent, Manish said his wife, Yukta Paul, took up a teaching job and took care of their finances.
Manish and Yukta attended the same school in Kolkata and dated each other for several years before tying the knot. They got married on 29th January 2007 and at that time Manish was once working as a radio jockey. The two have two youngsters together – a son named Yuvan Paul and a daughter Saisha Paul.
In a close interplay with Humans of Bombay, Manish recalled the tough times in his lifestyle and how his wife supported him through it all. He says, “In 2008, I was unemployed for a year – I didn’t even have cash to pay the house rent. But, Yukta took care of everything. He used to say, ‘Be patient – you will get a great opportunity soon. .’ And 12 months later, it happened; got a TV serial. Things started picking up – I went to fact shows and awards nights. In 2011, we had a daughter and in 2016 a son. Finally, I am at a place where I can make time for Yukta and my kids. And it’s a rule that I don’t talk about work at the dinner table.”
Manish started his career as a radio jockey. He used to host Radio City’s morning drive-time show Kasakai Mumbai. He later made his TV show debut with Star One’s Bhoot Bana Dost. hhe later considered stints in Radha Ki Betian Kuch Kaar Paohingi on NDTV Imagine, Jindadil on Zee Next, Phiri Koi Hai on Star One, Chaka Ghar Ghar Mein, and Kahani Shuru with Love Guru on Zee TV. He has hosted numerous reality television shows such as Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7, Science of Stupid, Dance India Dance Li’l Masters, Naach Baliye 9 and many more.
