Actress Nora Fatehi is facing a Rs 3 crore civil defamation suit filed by aviation company Dunes Aviation over comments she allegedly made on social media about one of its chartered aircraft. The case, filed before a court in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, is scheduled to be heard by Senior Civil Judge R Agarwal on September 25. According to the company, Fatehi recorded videos inside a Cessna Citation CJ2 aircraft during a Mumbai-Jaipur flight in December last year and described the aircraft as a “miniature”, “toy” and “Lego airplane” before sharing the videos on Instagram. Dunes Aviation has alleged that the remarks were made without technical knowledge or factual verification and caused significant reputational and commercial damage. The company claims that Fatehi’s social media reach of more than 4.6 crore followers amplified the comments, allegedly contributing to a 15–20 per cent decline in bookings and an increase in cancellations. Dunes Aviation maintains that the aircraft was a standard Cessna Citation CJ2, appropriately suited for the journey, and was DGCA-certified, airworthy and operated legally under a valid Non-Scheduled Operator’s Permit. The aviation company is seeking Rs 3 crore in damages, along with the removal of social media content containing the alleged remarks and a public clarification from the actress. The case highlights the potential legal and commercial consequences of social media comments by high-profile personalities, particularly when such remarks are alleged to affect the reputation and business operations of a company.
