Emraan Hashmi-starrer Awarapan 2 is taking a strong lead over Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947 in advance bookings ahead of their Independence Day box-office clash, according to trade figures. The film has recorded around ₹3.26 crore in gross day-one pre-sales, with nearly 1.02 lakh tickets sold across 5,934 shows. Including blocked seats, its potential gross stands at about ₹5.44 crore. Maharashtra leads Awarapan 2’s bookings with ₹1.13 crore, followed by Delhi at ₹1.10 crore, Uttar Pradesh at ₹61.27 lakh, Gujarat at ₹44.28 lakh and West Bengal at ₹36.62 lakh. The film appears to be benefiting from the nostalgia surrounding the 2007 original, which developed a strong following over the years. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 also stars Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi. Meanwhile, Batwara 1947 has registered around ₹81.39 lakh in day-one advance bookings, with 29,261 tickets sold across 5,672 shows. Its potential gross, including blocked seats, is currently estimated at ₹2.46 crore. Delhi is the film’s strongest market at ₹59.16 lakh, followed by Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the Partition-themed film features Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal and Karan Deol. The early pre-sales indicate that Awarapan 2 has established a significant advantage over Batwara 1947 ahead of the theatrical showdown.
