Emraan Hashmi is back with a roar. His romantic thriller Awarapan 2, co-starring Disha Patani and directed by Nitin Kakkar, has stormed into theatres and outperformed every trade prediction ahead of its release.
Record-Breaking Friday For Emraan According to early estimates, the film minted between Rs 19 crore to Rs 21 crore net on its opening day, a non-holiday Friday.
That number makes it the biggest opening day of Emraan Hashmi’s career so far. More importantly, trade experts believe this is just the beginning, with the film now on track to become his highest-grossing film ever.
Roughly Rs 10 crore of Friday’s total came from the top 3 national multiplex chains alone, accounting for about 50% of the overall collections. That shows strong pull in urban centers.
Independence Day Boost: Rs 80 Cr Weekend Loading
The timing couldn’t be better. With the 80th Independence Day falling on Saturday, Awarapan 2 is set for a massive jump in footfalls over the weekend.
Industry projections suggest:

• Sunday: Strong hold expected
• Opening Weekend Total: Likely to touch the Rs 80 crore mark
If the momentum continues, the film will comfortably cross the Rs 100 crore net mark within its first week and set its sights on the Rs 150 crore club soon after.
Awarapan 2 did face some competition from Batwara, but that film failed to gain traction. However, the release wasn’t completely smooth. A showcase tussle between PVR Inox and Pen Marudhar did create minor hurdles and slightly impacted Awarapan 2’s potential on day 1.
Despite that, the verdict is clear: Awarapan 2 is a hit on arrival.
The Emraan-Disha pairing, Nitin Kakkar’s emotional storytelling, and the nostalgia factor from the original Awarapan seem to have struck a chord with audiences. Social buzz and advance bookings translated directly into packed shows on Friday.
With a long weekend ahead and positive word of mouth, Awarapan 2 is now expected to dominate the box office through the next 10 days.
