British pop sensation Ed Sheeran might be the latest international star to join the Bollywood wave—and he’s making sure the world knows it. After captivating audiences during his India tour and releasing Sapphire with Arijit Singh, Ed has dropped yet another surprise: he’s officially recorded a Hindi track for a Shah Rukh Khan movie.
In a recent behind-the-scenes video from Sapphire, Ed is seen enjoying himself on set, dabbling in Punjabi lyrics, and even chatting about Shah Rukh Khan’s cameo in the music video. But it was his offhand comment in the comments section that truly got fans buzzing:
“The Hindi song was for a Bollywood movie SRK is doing. This is the Punjabi version of Sapphire with Arijit. I’m just doing all languages at this point.”
Though he didn’t reveal the film’s name, fans were quick to speculate that he was referring to King—Shah Rukh Khan’s only confirmed project at the moment. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the action-packed film is already generating buzz as Suhana Khan’s big-screen debut. The ensemble cast is stacked with Bollywood royalty including Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Arshad Warsi.
Adding more weight to the theory, Ed was spotted in the BTS footage hanging out in a recording studio with Siddharth Anand, making it highly likely that his Hindi track will feature in King’s soundtrack.
While the title and vibe of the Hindi song remain under wraps, one thing is certain—fans are thrilled at the prospect of Sheeran’s voice making waves in a Bollywood blockbuster. With Sapphire already a hit in its Punjabi avatar and a Hindi debut on the horizon, Ed’s desi detour might just be his most musical crossover yet.
