Emraan Hashmi-starrer ‘Awarapan 2’ continued its strong run at the Indian box office, collecting ₹9.25 crore nett on its first Monday and moving closer to the ₹100-crore milestone. According to trade figures, the sequel to the 2007 film ‘Awarapan’ has earned ₹91 crore nett and ₹109.02 crore gross in India so far, while its worldwide gross collection stands at ₹130.82 crore. The film opened with ₹22 crore on Friday, followed by ₹33.75 crore on Saturday and ₹26 crore on Sunday, taking its India nett total to ₹81.75 crore before Monday. The film has emerged as the clear winner of the Independence Day box-office clash against ‘Batwara 1947’. The latter witnessed a sharp decline on Monday, earning ₹2 crore nett in India and taking its domestic total to ₹28.50 crore. Its worldwide gross collection currently stands at ₹40.20 crore. With ‘Awarapan 2’ maintaining a strong pace after its opening weekend, the film is now within striking distance of the ₹100-crore nett mark in India.
