Ranveer Singh’s legal team has challenged the jurisdiction of the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) in the dispute surrounding his exit from Don 3, arguing that the matter should be settled by a court rather than the producers’ body, according to reports. The development follows a ₹45 crore damages claim by Farhan Akhtar and Riteish Sidhwani over Ranveer’s reported decision to leave the project. Ranveer’s lawyers have reportedly maintained that he did not have a formal agreement with Excel Entertainment and that the parties had only entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). They also submitted a formal defence against the producers’ claim and urged IMPPA to dismiss the complaint, stating that the association lacked jurisdiction. Following the legal objection, an IMPPA meeting scheduled to consider the complaint was postponed. Ranveer’s father and representative, Jagjit Singh Bhavnani, later appeared before the association, where he was informed about the postponement. IMPPA President Abhay Sinha said both sides had presented their arguments and that the association’s legal team was examining the issues before deciding its next course of action. Ranveer reportedly quit Don 3 in December after the film had already incurred expenses related to locations, crew, training, costumes, travel and sets. The film had been expected to begin production in the first half of 2026. Meanwhile, Ranveer is set to appear in Pralay, a zombie thriller directed by Jai Mehta.
