Ravie Dubey, who portrays Lakshman in Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited Ramayana, has praised Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Ram, calling him “simply the best we have” amid mixed reactions to the casting on social media. Speaking to Variety India, Dubey said his experience of working closely with Kapoor had left a strong impression, particularly because of the actor’s sincerity, work ethic and grounded personality. While Kapoor’s casting as Lord Ram has generated debate among sections of audiences online, Dubey expressed confidence in the choice and praised both the actor and the artiste he has observed at close range. Describing Kapoor as a superstar of “epic proportions”, Dubey said it was the actor’s qualities as a person and his dedication to his craft that stood out to him most. The comments come as anticipation continues to build around Tiwari’s ambitious adaptation of the Ramayana, which features Kapoor as Lord Ram and Dubey as Lakshman.
