Tragic Accident: Dancer Drowns During Riteish Deshmukh’s ‘Raja Shivaji’ Shoot in Satara

A tragic incident occurred during the shooting of Riteish Deshmukh’s upcoming film Raja Shivaji in Satara, Maharashtra. Saurabh Sharma, a 26-year-old dancer from the choreography team, drowned in the Krishna River after finishing the shoot for a song. The accident took place at Sangam Mahuli, a village located at the confluence of the Krishna and Venna rivers, approximately 250 kilometers from Mumbai.

According to reports, Sharma went to wash his hands in the river after the shoot and later entered the water for a swim. Unfortunately, he was swept away by strong currents. Despite immediate alerts to the police and district administration, rescue operations were hindered by darkness and resumed the following morning. After two days of extensive search efforts, Sharma’s body was recovered on Thursday morning.

The film Raja Shivaji, directed by Riteish Deshmukh, is a bilingual Marathi and Hindi project based on the life of the legendary Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Riteish, who also plays the lead role, has halted the film’s production in light of the tragedy. The team has expressed their condolences and is providing support to Sharma’s family.

This heartbreaking incident has cast a shadow over the production of a film that aims to celebrate the legacy of one of India’s most revered historical figures. The authorities have registered an accidental death case and are continuing their investigation.
