Ranveer Singh’s ‘Don 3’ Exit Gets Another Mention From Farhan Akhtar

Filmmaker Farhan Akhtar has seemingly taken a subtle dig at Ranveer Singh’s exit from Don 3, referring to the situation as a “pattern” without directly naming the actor.

During a recent interaction with The Hollywood Reporter India marking the 25th anniversary of Dil Chahta Hai, Farhan discussed how Saif Ali Khan had considered leaving the film just days before shooting was scheduled to begin.

Drawing a parallel with the Don 3 situation, Farhan noted that Saif’s decision came close to the start of filming and remarked, “It was a month away from filming, which seems to be a pattern nowadays.” Ranveer Singh had exited Don 3 shortly before the film was expected to begin production. His departure came after the commercial success of Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar.

The third instalment of the Don franchise, which was expected to go on floors by the end of January 2026, had reportedly already involved substantial pre-production investments based on Ranveer’s commitment to the project.

Following the development, Farhan and producer Ritesh Sidhwani approached the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). The organisation later issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer in May, though it was subsequently withdrawn. Farhan’s latest comment has renewed attention on the actor’s departure from the much-anticipated project.
