Bollywood Actor Rajpal Yadav Says He Lost Rs 17 Crore on Single Film

Famous Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav on Wednesday appeared in person before the Supreme Court of India during the hearing of the cheque bounce case against him and presented his side. A long conversation took place between the actor and the court before a bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant. During the hearing, Rajpal Yadav informed the court about the huge financial loss caused by his film ‘Ata Pata Laapata’, his career, and the legal battle that has been going on for the last 16 years.

In response to the court’s questions, Yadav said that he has acted in around 200-250 films in his career, but in the last 13 years he has had to bear losses of around Rs 200 to 250 crore. In particular, he suffered a complete loss of Rs 17 crore in his film ‘Ata Pata Laapata’ and the budget increased to Rs 22 crore. The actor said that he could not earn a single rupee from the film and the film did not even get a proper release in a single theatre.

He told the court emotionally – “You can send me to jail whenever you want and for however long you want, I am ready.”

During the hearing, Justice Bagchi warned Yadav that the term of the punishment previously awarded to him could be extended. The actor submitted a demand draft of Rs 1.15 crore in the court, which has been ordered to be deposited in the court’s registry. The Supreme Court adjourned the hearing after issuing directions regarding the next steps and procedure in the case.
