Arijit Singh, Monali Thakur and Others Prove Talent Outshines Reality Show Results

The recent success of singer Deepali Sahay has once again highlighted how reality show results do not always define an artist’s future. Sahay, whose song “Tere Paas Main” from Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming project has gained significant popularity online, first came into the spotlight nearly two decades ago as a contestant on Indian Idol Season 3. Although she did not win the competition, her journey eventually led her to collaborate with renowned composer A. R. Rahman.

Her story mirrors the experiences of several Indian singers who faced disappointment on reality television but later achieved remarkable success in the music industry. Among the most notable examples is Arijit Singh, who participated in Fame Gurukul in 2005 but was eliminated before the finals. Through perseverance and continuous improvement, he went on to become one of India’s most celebrated playback singers, earning widespread recognition with the hit song “Tum Hi Ho.”

Similarly, Neha Kakkar did not win Indian Idol and finished outside the top positions. However, she later established herself as one of the country’s leading pop and playback singers, delivering numerous chart-topping hits and eventually returning to the show as a judge.

Monali Thakur also failed to secure the Indian Idol title but built an impressive career, winning the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for “Moh Moh Ke Dhaage.”

These stories serve as powerful reminders that talent, determination and hard work often matter far more than winning a competition, proving that success can come long after the spotlight of reality television fades.
